Latino Student Experience Survey Project

Project Overview

La Raza Unida, Madison College's Latino/a/x student affinity club, is launching a comprehensive survey initiative to better understand and improve the experience of Latino students at our institution. This student-led project aims to identify key areas for improvement and develop actionable goals based on direct feedback from our community.

Survey Participation

We welcome participation from students who self-identify as:

  • Latino/a/e
  • Latinx
  • Hispanic
  • Chicano/a
  • Afro-Latino/a
  • Indigenous Latino/a
  • Any other connection with the Latino Community

Timeline and Key Phases

Phase 1: Survey Launch and Data Collection (Fall 2024)

  • Distribution through campus email and Wolf Pack Connect
  • College-wide promotion through The Clarion (college newspaper), Digital displays (Visix), Posters and flyers, In-person interviews,  Lunch hour sessions, etc.
  • Special focus in Truax and GSC, ESL classes, HED, etc.

Phase 2: Analysis and Goal Setting (Fall 24 / Spring 25)

  • Review and analyze survey responses
  • Identify key themes and priorities
  • Develop specific proposals and goals
  • Identify key stakeholders for implementation

Phase 3: Community Decision Making (Spring 25)

  • Present findings at monthly member meeting
  • Democratic vote on priority targets
  • Establish implementation timeframes

Phase 4: Implementation and Dialogue (Spring 25)

  • Initiate conversations with stakeholders
  • Build alliance networks
  • Public announcement of goals
  • Progress reports will be shared with: Club members, Latino student body, allies,  Madison College community and General public

Phase 5: Project Wrap-up (end of Spring 25)

  • Evaluate achievements
  • Take necessary actions
  • Document lessons learned
  • Plan for upcoming academic year next steps
