Madison College spotlights the award-winning play “The Meeting.”

The Division of College Culture and Climate presents “The Meeting” by Jeff Stetson - a compelling play about the imaginary meeting of two of the most influential people of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

While leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, there is no record of the two historical figures ever conversing. Returning to the 1960s, following the notorious attack on Malcolm X’s home, this play pits together each leader’s values, philosophies, intentions, and experiences as it explores what that conversation would be like.

This play, brought to life by the Nobleman Theater Troupe, is a rhetorically riveting theatrical experience to enlighten, spark discourse, and challenge viewer’s perspectives. This experience includes a rendition of the Black National Anthem, a discussion with community leaders and the play’s cast after each performance, and multiple online discussion sessions.
